Grand Forks, ND (August 05, 2020) – Local law enforcement officers from the Grand Forks Police Department and emergency medical personnel were both dispatched to the scene of a car accident that took place in the early morning hours of Wednesday, August 5th at 3:20 a.m. in the 1700 block of Gateway Drive.
Based on preliminary notations in the emergency dispatch log, two vehicles were most likely involved in the incident, the cause of which has yet to be determined. Following the impact, one of the vehicles failed to pull over and instead fled the accident scene.
Reports of victim injuries remain unconfirmed at this time. Emergency medical personnel were on the scene, however, and would have medically assessed anyone involved in the incident and ensured that all injured victims were given the appropriate medical treatment or transportation.
The identities and post-crash medical conditions of those involved in the accident have not yet been made known. It is also unclear whether or not anyone involved in the collision was issued a traffic citation.
As this incident is still under professional inquiry from officers of the Grand Forks Police Department to determine cause and liability, no additional details have been made readily available.

Car Accidents in Grand Forks
Statistics pertaining to North Dakota car accidents expose a direct correlation between a state’s car accident-related catastrophic injury rate and its current rate of seat belt usage.
In North Dakota, and throughout the United States, drivers and passengers who decided to eschew the use of their seat belt as required by law accounted for the largest group to either sustain catastrophic injuries or die during an accident.
Contrariwise, their buckled counterparts often survived the accident wholly intact or with injuries classified as medically insignificant.
