Grasonville, MD – Kitchen Fire on Pathfinder Cir Leads to EMS Evaluation

Grasonville, MD (April 15, 2025) – Emergency crews from multiple fire departments responded to a structure fire reported in the 700 block of Pathfinder Circle in Grasonville on the afternoon of April 14. First responders arrived on the scene after receiving reports of a kitchen fire at a residential property.

Medics and fire personnel from Grasonville (Station 2), Kent Island (Station 1), Queenstown (Station 3), and Centreville (Station 4) all converged on the location around 2:22 p.m. Emergency responders from Queen Anne’s County worked quickly to assess and manage the situation. According to early reports, smoke and flames were seen emanating from the kitchen area of the home.

Paramedics evaluated at least one individual on scene for injuries possibly related to smoke inhalation or minor burns. At this time, it remains unclear whether the person requires transportation to a medical facility. Fire crews acted rapidly to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to other parts of the structure or neighboring properties.

The incident remains under active investigation to determine the precise origin and cause of the fire. Officials have not yet released additional information on whether any residents were displaced or if significant structural damage occurred. The quick action by fire units helped mitigate further risk, and no additional injuries were reported.

Our thoughts go out to the individual evaluated by EMS and to all those impacted by this residential fire. We are grateful for the swift response by area fire departments who worked in unison to bring the situation under control.

Residential Fires in Maryland

In suburban and semi-rural communities like those in Queen Anne’s County, residential structure fires pose unique risks due to variable response times, limited hydrant access, and structural variances in home design. The recent fire on Pathfinder Circle highlights how rapidly a kitchen blaze can escalate, especially if residents are caught off guard or unaware of early warning signs.

The kitchen is the most common area in the home where fires originate, accounting for over half of all residential fire-related injuries in the U.S. Faulty appliances, unattended cooking, and flammable items placed too close to heat sources are among the top contributing factors. In this Grasonville incident, the fire appears to have started in the kitchen, reinforcing how quickly an ordinary moment can turn hazardous.

Swift intervention by multiple fire departments likely prevented a far more damaging event. Grasonville's collaboration with neighboring stations—Kent Island, Queenstown, and Centreville—underscores the value of mutual aid in regions where response demands can exceed a single station’s capacity.
