Habersham County, GA ( July 19, 2023) – A devastating fiery crash near Alto in Habersham County claimed the lives of a Hall County deputy’s wife and two children, as confirmed by the sheriff’s office.
According to reports, Avonlea Holtzclaw of Dahlonega attempted to cross U.S. 23 in a Ford Explorer.
Another driver traveling southbound collided with her vehicle, resulting in a collision that caused a fire.
Sadly, all occupants of both vehicles lost their lives at the crash site.
Avonlea, a 29-year-old woman and the wife of Hall County Deputy Patrick Neil Holtzclaw was accompanied by their two young children, aged 6 and 3, during the accident.
The sheriff’s office expressed deep sorrow for the loss.
Another driver, Mitchell Boggs, a 58-year-old Marietta man in a Chevrolet Corvette traveling southbound, also succumbed to the crash, along with an unidentified passenger.
This tragic incident has brought immense grief to the community and is a heart-wrenching loss.
Investigations into the crash are currently ongoing.
