Hackensack, NJ (January 2, 2025) – A pickup truck plowed into a McDonald’s on the corner of River and Passaic Streets early Tuesday morning, injuring an employee and causing extensive damage to the structure. The crash, reported at approximately 3:20 AM, ruptured gas and water lines, requiring an extensive emergency response.
The vehicle, a Dodge Ram 1500, struck the south side of the building, where a 21-year-old employee was injured during the incident. Hackensack Fire Department crews from the 2nd Platoon provided immediate care before an EMT unit transported the victim to Hackensack University Medical Center. Fortunately, the injuries sustained were not deemed life-threatening.
Crews secured the scene by addressing the gas and water leaks and removing the vehicle from the structure. The Hackensack Police Department and Building Department have taken over the investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the crash. The driver of the pickup truck was taken into custody following the incident.
