Hampton, VA (February 7, 2023) – One person has died as a result of a car crash that took place in the Hampton area on Monday evening.
At around 5:15 p.m. on February 6, the Virginia State Police responded to the site of a traffic crash on Interstate 664.
According to law enforcement, Joseph L Locklear, Jr., was driving a dark-colored 2007 Lexus E350 sedan north along Interstate 664 when he became involved in a collision.
As a result, the vehicle went off the roadway after striking multiple construction barrels and crashed into several trees. The vehicle then came to rest in a ditch.
Locklear suffered injuries and was transported to Riverside Regional Medical Center for further treatment.
A front-seat passenger in the vehicle, 38-year-old Alvin Lamar Emanuel Banks, was fatally injured. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by the responding officers.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
