Hampton, VA (September 18, 2023) – A severe collision resulted from a wrong-way driver on Route 101 East near the I-95 interchange on Friday, September 15, 2023.
At 9:36 p.m., a 22-year-old Chandler, Arizona, man drove west on the eastbound lanes. He collided head-on with a 23-year-old Hampton woman’s car.
Following the impact, the man’s vehicle stopped on the road while the woman’s car settled on the grassy shoulder.
Emergency responders extracted the trapped woman, who flew to a Boston hospital for significant injuries.
The Arizona man received treatment at a local hospital.
The investigation is still ongoing.
