Hanover County, VA (May 9, 2023) – Authorities in Hanover County confirmed that 20-year-old Makai Cummings was fatally injured as a result of a car crash that took place on Monday morning, May 8.
At approximately 215 a.m., the Virginia State Police responded to the scene of a crash on Interstate 295.
Reports from authorities show that Cummings car broke down on the southbound side of the interstate. He pulled his vehicle to the side of the road near the exit for Meadowbridge Road and began to change the tire.
While working on his vehicle, he was struck by a passing vehicle.
Cummings suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.
At this time, the incident is being investigated.
