Harvey, LA (February 3, 2025) – A tragic multi-vehicle crash on US 90B at Manhattan Boulevard in Jefferson Parish left one person dead and several others injured on Saturday evening.
According to the Louisiana State Police (LSP) Troop B, the crash occurred at approximately 7:11 PM when a 2012 Nissan Titan, driven by 43-year-old Felipe Reyes-Ventura of Gretna, collided with the rear of a 2006 Toyota Rav4 that had stopped in traffic behind a 2006 Chevrolet HHR on the elevated portion of the highway. The impact pushed the Toyota Rav4 into the Chevrolet HHR, creating a chain-reaction collision.
The front-seat passenger in the Nissan, identified as 53-year-old Jose Bueso-Siguense of Gretna, was unrestrained at the time of the crash. He suffered severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Reyes-Ventura, who was wearing a seatbelt, sustained injuries and was also taken to a hospital for treatment. The drivers and passengers in the Toyota and Chevrolet were properly restrained and suffered only minor injuries. They were transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation.
During the crash investigation, Reyes-Ventura displayed signs of impairment. Toxicology samples were obtained for analysis, and authorities later arrested and booked him into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center on multiple charges, including Vehicular Homicide, three counts of Vehicular Negligent Injuring, Reckless Operation, and No Driver’s License.

DUI-Related Fatal Crashes in Louisiana
Driving under the influence (DUI) remains one of the leading causes of fatal accidents in Louisiana. High-traffic roadways like US 90B pose increased risks when impaired drivers are on the road, particularly in congested areas where sudden stops and reduced speeds are common.
According to the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission (LHSC), impaired driving accounts for nearly one-third of all traffic fatalities in the state. Unrestrained passengers, such as the victim in this crash, are at an even higher risk of severe or fatal injuries when collisions occur. Seat belt usage is one of the most effective ways to prevent serious injuries in the event of an accident.
Victims and their families impacted by DUI-related crashes may have legal options to seek compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and other damages. Seeking legal guidance and understanding available resources can help those affected by such tragedies.
