Hattiesburg, MS. – Fatal Accident Involving Cattle on I-59 and US-11 Leaves One Dead

Hattiesburg, MS. (July 18, 2023)- On Monday morning, July 17, 2023, an accident that claimed one life was caused by a small herd of cattle blocking both Interstate 59 and US-11.

A car and a tractor-trailer were involved in an accident at 9:30 a.m. near exit US-11 on Interstate 59, according to the Hattiesburg Police Department.

The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) reported that delays on US-11 northbound and I-59 southbound were caused by livestock on the roads.

There was one fatality and no known injuries from the incident. Investigations are still ongoing.
