Drivers with a blood-alcohol level of at least 0.08% are, according to federal law, driving under the influence. This is also true of drunk driving laws in all 50 states and the District of Columbia with the notable exception of Utah. Drunk drivers are a primary causative factor in around 34% of all car accident-related deaths nationwide.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving, a non-profit organization dedicated to stopping drunk driving, stated that about 300,000 people drive under the influence of alcohol every day with only 13% ever being caught. Adults in their early to mid-20s are the most frequent violators of this driving law in New York.

After losing a loved one in a careless, reckless, or otherwise negligent New York car accident by no fault of the victim, it may feel like no amount of compensation could make you feel complete again.
