Henry County, MO – Vehicle Struck by Fallen Cargo on Rte C

January 1, 2025

Henry County, MO (January 1, 2025) – A collision involving fallen cargo occurred Tuesday afternoon on Route C, west of 1001 in Henry County, resulting in injuries to one individual. The incident was reported around 2:40 PM, prompting local emergency services to respond.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash involved a 2019 Lincoln MKT driven by a 68-year-old female from Butler, MO, and an unidentified vehicle pulling a trailer. The unidentified vehicle, traveling westbound, lost its cargo on a curve. The fallen cargo struck the eastbound Lincoln MKT, causing minor damage. The Lincoln was towed from the scene by Gary’s Tow, while the other vehicle was driven away.

The driver of the Lincoln, who was wearing a safety device, sustained injuries but declined immediate medical transport, indicating she may seek treatment later. The identity of the driver of the westbound vehicle remains unknown as further investigation continues.

Corporal R.C. West is leading the investigation into the incident. Additional details regarding the type of cargo and contributing factors are being reviewed.

Our thoughts are with the injured individuals and their families during this challenging time.

Cargo-Related Crashes in Missouri

Incidents involving fallen cargo pose significant risks to motorists on Missouri’s roadways, particularly on rural routes like Route C. Improperly secured loads can result in dangerous situations, leading to collisions or causing vehicles to veer off the road.

Missouri law requires all trailers and vehicles carrying cargo to secure their loads properly to prevent accidents. Drivers are encouraged to double-check straps, covers, and connections before setting out, especially when navigating curves or uneven terrain.

Victims of crashes caused by fallen cargo often face unexpected challenges, from vehicle damage to medical expenses. Understanding legal rights and pursuing claims against at-fault parties can provide necessary financial relief.
