High Ridge, MO – Three-Vehicle Crash at Missouri PP & High Ridge Blvd Sends One to Hospital

High Ridge, MO (April 21, 2025) – Emergency personnel responded to a multi-vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Missouri PP and High Ridge Blvd in Jefferson County on Saturday afternoon, April 19. The crash, which involved three vehicles, prompted immediate assistance from Jefferson County Ambulance District and other local agencies.

Medics and fire crews worked to assist those suffering from injuries after the collision, which took place around 2:15 p.m. According to authorities, a 2008 Pontiac G6 traveling westbound on Missouri PP entered the intersection when a 2017 Toyota RAV4, driven by a 78-year-old female from Byrnes Mill, failed to stop at a posted stop sign. The front of the Pontiac struck the right side of the Toyota, which then veered left and collided with the front of a third vehicle — a 2015 Ford Focus headed eastbound.

The Ford Focus, driven by an 87-year-old male from High Ridge, sustained minor damage and was towed from the scene by High Ridge Towing. He suffered minor injuries and was transported to SSM Health St. Clare Hospital by the Jefferson County Ambulance District. The other drivers, a 19-year-old male from Lonedell operating the Pontiac and the 78-year-old woman in the Toyota, did not report injuries and were able to drive their vehicles away from the scene.

Emergency Responders from Jefferson County secured the intersection while assessing the scene and ensuring the injured party received timely medical treatment. Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper A. P. Billiot led the investigation, with assistance from Trooper M. Smith. The collision remains under review to determine any further contributing factors.

Our hearts go out to the individuals impacted by this incident. We hope for a smooth and swift recovery for the injured.

Intersection Crashes in Missouri

Crashes at intersections such as the one at Missouri PP and High Ridge Blvd are an ongoing concern across Missouri, particularly in Jefferson County, where commuter traffic and suburban infrastructure intersect. This crash illustrates the compounded danger when stop sign violations occur — especially at crossroads with multidirectional traffic.

Intersection-related accidents frequently result from failure to yield, distracted driving, or disregard for posted traffic signs. In this case, the failure to stop at a clearly marked intersection caused a chain reaction that involved three vehicles and sent an elderly driver to the hospital.

Data from the Missouri Department of Transportation highlights that nearly one in four crashes statewide occurs at intersections, with senior drivers being especially vulnerable to injury due to physical fragility and slower reaction times. In Jefferson County, the combination of high-speed routes and limited visibility at some junctions adds to the risk profile.

While seatbelt use was reported in all three vehicles, which likely mitigated more severe injuries, this accident reinforces the importance of obeying all traffic controls — particularly in busy areas. The response by Jefferson County Ambulance District and the prompt coordination with local tow services and law enforcement also highlight the critical role of emergency infrastructure in minimizing further disruption.

If you're a local driver navigating areas like High Ridge Blvd, it's crucial to maintain heightened awareness at all intersections. Whether you're a teen driver or an older adult, proper yielding and full stops at marked intersections can be lifesaving. Drivers should also be cautious of vehicles entering from adjacent directions, even when they have the right of way.
