Holland Township, MI (December 10, 2024) – A pedestrian was fatally struck by a semi-truck early Tuesday morning at the intersection of US-31 and James St in Holland Township. The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident occurred around 5:30 a.m.
According to Sgt. Matthew Wildfong, the semi-truck, traveling southbound on US-31, had a green light when it struck the pedestrian who was crossing the street. The pedestrian, identified as a 47-year-old Holland Township man, was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies initially reported the victim's age as 46. His name has not been released at this time.
The driver of the semi-truck was unharmed in the collision. The southbound lanes of US-31 at James St were closed for several hours as authorities conducted their investigation and cleared the scene. All lanes have since reopened.
