Holley, NY (April 10, 2021) – A man and his son sustained injuries when their concrete porch collapsed underneath them on East Union Street on Friday afternoon.

Structure Collapse Injuries in Holley

No one ever anticipates part of a building or a house to collapse, regardless of whether it is finished and occupied, under construction, or scheduled for demolition. Both partial and total collapses can occur and the outcome of either has the potential to cause serious injuries and fatalities.

A partial collapse could involve the collapse of a ceiling, floor, or staircase that gives way and results in a fall. Collapses such as these can be caused by deteriorating conditions brought on by mold, leaking water, or fire damage. To avoid these serious accidents, landlords, building owners, and supervisors are obligated to respond right away when these conditions are brought to their attention.

Full or partial collapses can also arise from mistakes made in a house’s construction or design.  To circumvent these types of cave-ins, architects, engineers, contractors, and construction firms are required to abide by all New York building codes.

Being injured in an accident can be an extremely disruptive, frightening, confusing, and overwhelming time in a person’s life. After being injured by no fault of your own, the last things you need to be concerned with are the financial obligations and other stressors that only make physical recovery more challenging.
