Houston, TX ( July 14, 2023) – On Thursday, July 13th, 2023, a man was in critical condition following a three-alarm fire that occurred overnight in northwest Houston.
On Wednesday, the fire broke out at the Coronado Park Apartments on Fallbrook Drive near Highway 249 around 11:15 p.m.
Fire crews from the Northwest Volunteer Fire Department and the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office worked six hours to extinguish the fire.
Approximately 40 people have been displaced, including families with five to six members.
The fire was caused by an electrical failure on a patio of a downstairs unit, as determined by the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office.
Upon arrival, rescuers found an unconscious man inside the building and successfully rescued him.
CPR was initiated, and although the man has a pulse, he remains in critical condition at St. Luke’s Health Vintage Hospital.
A small dog belonging to one of the families was also rescued and provided with oxygen.
Efforts are underway, with the assistance of management, to account for everyone affected by the fire.
