Independence, CA (September 18, 2023) – A pedestrian was fatally struck on Friday, September 15, 2023, around 8:05 p.m. at the intersection of US Highway 395 (South Edward Street) and East Payne Street.
The incident happened near the Shell gas station, as reported by the California Highway Patrol.
The driver hit the pedestrian under unclear circumstances.
Emergency responders performed CPR and transported the victim, who sadly died en route or shortly after reaching the hospital.
The driver remained on the scene, waiting for the police at the Shell station.
The investigation is still ongoing.
