Indianapolis, IN (November 21, 2023) – A truck driver tragically died in an accident early Tuesday on I-465 westbound near mile marker 35.6, close to a construction zone. Indiana State Police revealed the crash occurred around 5:10 a.m., near the Allisonville Rd exit.
Sgt. John Perrine reported a semi lost a front wheel and stopped at the roadside. A car struck the wheel, lodging it underneath, and then collided with the semi-driver who was outside his vehicle. The driver believed to be assessing truck damage and possibly extinguishing a fire, died later at a hospital.
The semi-driver’s identity remains undisclosed, pending family notification. The other driver, who cooperated with investigators, sustained minor injuries. Officials have ruled out impairment as a crash factor. Authorities are actively investigating this tragic incident.
