Indio, CA (September 19, 2023) – A two-vehicle crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. on Indio Boulevard, east of Flowers Street, on Sunday, September 17, 2023.
A black pickup reportedly made a U-turn in front of a Jeep.
The Jeep swerved off the road, striking a power pole.
The Jeep’s driver, 23-year-old Rafael Chavez, was thrown from the car.
Chavez, from Coachella, later died from his injuries.
The pickup driver suffered injuries and received hospital treatment.
Details surrounding the crash remain limited.
