Isle of Wight, VA (July 23, 2023) – One person was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries following a car crash that occurred in the Isle of Wight area on Friday evening, July 21.
According to law enforcement reports, a Jeep Cherokee, a Honda, and a Hyundai were all slowing to a stop while traveling eastbound on Route 460 near Zuni Circle. For unknown reasons, the driver of a Dodge Ram pickup truck failed to stop. As a result, the vehicle crashed into a 1990 Honda, causing a chain-reaction crash between all of the vehicles.
A rear-seat passenger in one of the vehicles was trapped and had to be extricated by firefighters. The victim was flown to Norfolk Sentara Hospital for emergency treatment of life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Dodge, identified as 64-year-old Marion Franklin Knicley, was charged with reckless driving.
At this time, the incident is being investigated.
