Islip, NY (November 13, 2022) – A man from Long Island died and another was injured during a single-vehicle accident on Saturday, November 12th in Suffolk County.

The crash took place at about 5:30 a.m. on the Sagtikos State Parkway off-ramp 41A in Islip.

A 29-year-old man was driving the vehicle eastbound along Southern State Parkway and took the exit ramp leading to the northbound lanes of Sagtikos State Parkway. As the car was driving down the ramp, it went off the lefthand side of the roadway and crashed into a guardrail on the passenger side.

The vehicle’s passenger, 51-year-old Silas Rosales, a resident of Freeport, sustained critical injuries during the impact. He was transported by paramedics to an area hospital where he passed away.

The driver was hospitalized in a non-critical condition.

In order for your New York wrongful death claim to see an economically favorable outcome, you will have to show that:

  • The defendant owed your family member a duty of care
  • The defendant violated that duty through some form of negligence
  • The defendant’s violation was the proximate cause of the death
  • The death resulted in economic damages

Collecting enough relevant evidence to prove these conditions existed is challenging. After forty years of practicing personal injury law in New York and overseeing thousands of wrongful death cases, our experienced attorneys are familiar with the most straightforward methods of locating evidence that will not only prove your version of the accident but ensure you are awarded full and fair financial compensation as well.

After losing a loved one in a careless, reckless, or otherwise negligent New York pedestrian accident by no fault of the victim, it may feel like no amount of compensation could make you feel complete again. While it is true that no financial restitution can ever fully make up for your losses, filing a wrongful death claim against the responsible party or parties can go a long way toward helping you find some semblance of peace again.
