Jackson County, OR – Fatal Side-Impact Collision on Hwy 238 & Upper Applegate Rd

Jackson County, OR (November 21, 2023) – A devastating two-vehicle crash on Highway 238 resulted in the death of Steven James Wyatt, 79, of Jacksonville, on Friday, November 17. Oregon State Police report that Wyatt was driving westbound while attempting a left turn onto Upper Applegate Road.

During the maneuver, Wyatt’s vehicle crossed an oncoming truck’s path, causing a side-impact collision. Wyatt succumbed to his injuries shortly after the accident.

The truck driver sustained minor injuries. The crash led to approximately two and a half hours of traffic impact on the highway. Investigations by OSP into the crash circumstances are ongoing.
