Jackson Heights, MY (March 06, 2021) – Six firemen were injured while battling a fire at a strip mall in Queens on Thursday, March 4th.  

According to officials, they were notified at about 11:00 p.m. of a fire at a strip of single-floor businesses on 74th Street in the Jackson Heights neighborhood.

When the fire trucks arrived they discovered heavy flames coming from a restaurant in the area.  

Sources said that the fire began in the basement and extended to the ceiling. It then spread to multiple stores on the block.

Roughly 170 firemen reported to the scene, which attained four-alarm status before it was finally contained at about 4:00 on Friday.

Six firemen were injured during the blaze. No civilian injuries have been reported.   

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
