Jackson, MI (May 14, 2025) – A woman sustained injuries Monday evening when her vehicle was struck by a red-light-running driver at the intersection of N West Ave and W Argyle St in Jackson. The crash, which occurred around 8:03 p.m. on May 12, resulted in a rollover that required immediate emergency response.
According to Jackson Police Deputy Chief Sergio Garcia, the crash happened as a 64-year-old woman was attempting to leave the Burger King parking lot located at 1023 N West Ave. As she entered the intersection, a northbound vehicle ran a red light and collided with her car, causing it to overturn.
Rescue crews arrived quickly and found the woman’s vehicle on its side in the middle of the intersection. She suffered minor injuries in the crash and was treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel. No other individuals were reported injured.
The at-fault driver, a 20-year-old man, was not hurt in the crash. Police have confirmed that charges for a moving violation causing injury are being pursued through the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office.
We send our best wishes to the injured woman and hope for her complete and swift recovery.
Red-Light Violations and Rollover Crashes in Michigan
Crashes caused by red-light violations are among the most dangerous types of urban collisions, often resulting in side impacts or rollovers that place drivers and passengers at high risk. The incident at N West Ave and W Argyle St is a prime example of how such violations can turn an ordinary evening into a traumatic event for unsuspecting drivers.
In this case, the collision took place in a busy commercial corridor near dining and retail outlets, where parking lot exits meet heavily traveled intersections. These areas require heightened caution and attentiveness from all drivers, especially during peak evening hours when visibility can be reduced.
Michigan crash data consistently shows that intersections are hotspots for injury-causing collisions. Rollover incidents, while less frequent, tend to result in more severe outcomes due to the vehicle’s instability and increased likelihood of occupant injury. Fortunately, in this instance, the woman’s injuries were minor, though the potential for far worse was clearly present.
Charges related to moving violations that result in injury are a serious matter in Michigan, carrying not only legal consequences but also long-term repercussions for victims. Those affected by such crashes may face not only immediate medical concerns but also lasting effects that impact mobility, finances, and peace of mind.
