Jamestown, ND (July 22, 2020) – 57-year-old motorcyclist, Frank Stuart Muddiman, a resident of Jamestown, was critically injured during a collision with another vehicle on Sunday, July 22nd.
Local police logs indicate that they reported to the scene of the accident, which took place at the intersection of 5th Ave SE and 10th St SE at around 4:00 p.m. when a 2003 Ford Mustang, driven by 23-year-old Jesse Wayne Denham, also of Jamestown, pulled out into the intersection in front of the motorcycle.
Local paramedics were also called to the crash site to render necessary medical care to Muddiman, who had been thrown from his bike. He was then transported via ambulance to Jamestown Regional Medical Center and eventually airlifted to a hospital in Fargo for emergency treatment.
Denham was given various traffic, including tickets for driving on a suspended driver’s license, operating a motor vehicle with no valid liability insurance, and failing to yield the right of way after a stop.
The accident is currently under investigation by the Jamestown Police Department. There is no additional information available at this time.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
Motorcycle Accidents in Jamestown
According to the state’s Department of Transportation, in 2017 there were 17 motorcycle fatalities in North Dakota. 10 of these deaths were attributed to the rider not wearing a helmet, while the other seven stemmed from a driver under the influence of alcohol.
Statistics compiled from 2018 also show that riding without a helmet and drunk driving, either on the part of the motorcyclist or the other driver, were still the two primary causes of death in these types of accidents.
For motorcyclists, who frequently go unnoticed by those who drive larger vehicles, it is vital to keep in mind that the two most important actions they can take to ensure their safety are wearing a helmet that has been approved by the Department of Transportation and driving as defensively as possible.
