Jasper County, MO (March 19, 2025) – A 51-year-old woman sustained injuries early Tuesday morning following a rear-end collision on MO-66 near Snapdragon Lane.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 5:55 a.m. as a westbound 2015 Nissan Altima, driven by a woman from Lamar, struck the rear of a 2019 Mack garbage truck. The truck, driven by a 57-year-old man from Carl Junction, was in the process of making a right turn into a parking lot when the collision occurred.
Emergency responders from METS Ambulance transported the Nissan driver to Freeman Hospital West for treatment of injuries. The garbage truck driver was not reported injured. The Nissan sustained total damage and was towed from the scene by 4 States Towing, while the garbage truck was able to be driven away.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Our thoughts are with the injured woman, and we hope for her full recovery.
Rear-End Collisions in Missouri
Rear-end collisions are among the most frequent types of accidents on Missouri roadways. These crashes often result from driver inattention, following too closely, or failing to react in time to slowing or turning vehicles. While some rear-end crashes cause only minor vehicle damage, others—especially those involving large trucks—can lead to significant injuries and costly repairs.
Missouri drivers are encouraged to maintain a safe following distance and remain alert to changing traffic conditions, particularly in areas where vehicles frequently stop or turn. In cases where negligence is involved, injured victims may have legal options to seek compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and other damages.
