Jefferson County, MO (March 13, 2025) – Emergency responders were called to the scene of a multi-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning on northbound I-55, just north of MO-M. The accident occurred at approximately 5:50 a.m. and involved a Honda Accord, a Chevrolet Silverado, and an unidentified tractor-trailer.
According to Missouri State Highway Patrol reports, the crash began when the unknown tractor-trailer sideswiped the right side of the 2007 Honda Accord. The impact caused the Honda to veer off the roadway and strike a concrete median barrier. The tractor-trailer then made contact with a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado before continuing its northbound travel.
A 17-year-old female passenger from Gladstone, MO, in the Honda Accord sustained injuries. She was transported to Mercy Hospital South by the Rock Township Ambulance District for treatment. The driver of the Honda, a 42-year-old male from Park Hills, MO, was not reported to have sustained injuries. The Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 54-year-old man from Ste. Genevieve, MO, sustained minor damage and was able to be driven from the scene. The Honda, which sustained moderate damage, was towed by Leo’s B&T Towing.
Authorities are investigating the crash, particularly in identifying the tractor-trailer involved, which did not remain at the scene. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Tractor-Trailer Accidents in Missouri
Missouri’s highways see a significant number of commercial truck accidents each year, with tractor-trailers posing particular risks due to their size and weight. Collisions involving large trucks often lead to severe consequences, as seen in this Jefferson County crash. In many cases, when a commercial vehicle fails to stop after a crash, victims and authorities face difficulties in identifying the responsible party.
Sideswipe collisions, like the one in this incident, often occur when truck drivers fail to properly check blind spots or when they drift between lanes due to distractions or fatigue. In Missouri, truck drivers are required to adhere to strict safety regulations to prevent these types of accidents. However, when violations occur, victims may need legal support to pursue claims for damages, particularly if the at-fault driver leaves the scene.
If you or someone you love has been involved in a crash with a tractor-trailer, it is important to seek legal guidance to understand your options. Recovering from an accident can be overwhelming, and having the right support can make a difference in securing compensation for medical expenses, vehicle repairs, and other losses.
