Johnson County, MO (March 12, 2025) – A serious crash involving a pickup truck and a dump truck left three people injured on Tuesday afternoon. The collision occurred at approximately 2:00 p.m. at the intersection of MO-2 and SE 1651st Rd in Johnson County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2000 Ford F-150 was traveling eastbound when it crossed the center line into the path of a westbound 1998 Mack dump truck. The dump truck driver swerved to avoid a direct collision, but the pickup struck the truck’s front left tire. The force of the crash caused the pickup to overturn, eventually coming to rest on its passenger side off the roadway.
Emergency crews, including the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department and Johnson County Fire District, responded to the scene. The driver of the Ford, a 29-year-old woman from Holden, MO, suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Truman Medical Center. Two young passengers in the pickup, a 3-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl, also sustained moderate injuries. Both children were transported to Children's Mercy Hospital for treatment. Officials confirmed that none of the occupants in the pickup truck were wearing safety restraints at the time of the crash.
The driver of the dump truck, a 43-year-old man from Warrensburg, MO, was not injured and was able to drive his vehicle away from the scene. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims, and we wish them a full and speedy recovery.
Rollover Accidents in Missouri
Rollover crashes are among the most dangerous types of vehicle accidents, often leading to severe injuries or fatalities. When a vehicle crosses the center line, as seen in this incident, the risk of losing control and overturning increases significantly. Factors such as high speed, lack of seat belt use, and roadway conditions can all contribute to the severity of these crashes.
Missouri law requires all vehicle occupants to wear seat belts, and child passengers must be properly restrained in age-appropriate safety seats. Unfortunately, in this crash, none of the occupants in the pickup were wearing safety restraints, which may have contributed to the extent of their injuries.
Victims of rollover accidents often face long recovery periods, medical expenses, and emotional distress. Seeking professional guidance can help injured individuals understand their legal options and potential compensation for damages.
