Kansas City, MO (September 13, 2023) – A devastating crash involving multiple vehicles on eastbound Interstate 70 near I-470 on Tuesday morning, September 12, 2023, led to one man’s death and another injured.

The accident transpired at 8:17 a.m. due to congestion from an earlier crash near Little Blue Parkway.

Joshua Stump, 38, from Lee’s Summit, driving a Ford Expedition, rear-ended a Freight-Liner commercial vehicle, the Independence Police Department reported.

Stump was declared dead at the site, while a passenger in the Ford received injuries and was hospitalized.

The Freightliner driver remained unharmed and assisted with the investigative process.

The investigation is still ongoing.
