Kansas, MO – Small Plane Crash in Clay County Results in Fatal Injuries

Kansas, MO (July 21, 2023) – A 79-year-old Valley Center, Kansas pilot died in a small Clay County plane crash on July 20, 2023.

Alan “Doug” Moler refueled at the Midwest Regional Air Center on Thursday morning before flying to Wichita.

Shortly after takeoff from the Midwest Regional Air Center, the plane crashed into a soybean field near NE 150th Street and Cordell, near Kearney.

The impact caused the aircraft to burst into flames, exacerbated by the 140 gallons of fuel it was carrying.

Emergency responders rushed to the crash site upon receiving a distress call.

Tragically, they found Mr. Moler deceased, making this incident a devastating loss for his family and the aviation community.
