Kearney, NE (December 11, 2024) – A serious injury crash occurred on the 30th Avenue overpass in Kearney, closing the roadway in both directions, according to the Kearney Police Department (KPD). The accident, which took place around 7:30 PM on icy road conditions, involved two vehicles.
Preliminary investigations by Sgt. Brad Newell of the KPD indicate that a southbound vehicle lost control on the icy overpass, crossing the center line and colliding with a northbound vehicle. The northbound vehicle was driven by a 31-year-old woman with an infant passenger. While the infant, secured in a child safety seat, was unharmed, the woman suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The southbound vehicle was driven by an 18-year-old man who also sustained serious injuries.
