Knoxville, TN (September 19, 2023) – A tractor-trailer flipped on eastbound I-640 near Washington Pike early Tuesday morning.

Tennessee Department of Transportation reported the incident just before 5 a.m., blocking several lanes.

First responders and Knoxville Fire Hazmat teams examined the scene and the cargo, determining no hazardous materials were present.

By 8 a.m., Knoxville Police Department confirmed on social media the non-hazardous nature of the cargo.

Some injuries occurred due to the crash.

The investigation is still ongoing.
