La Plata, MD (November 9, 2022) – An 18-year-old motorcyclist has died as a result of the crash that took place in La Plata on Sunday evening. On November 6, the Maryland State Police La Plata Barrick responded to the scene of a traffic accident that occurred on Maryland State Route 6.
At around 845 p.m., 18-year-old Nicholas Eric Raybon was writing a 2006 Suzuki GS 500 motorcycle West on Maryland State Route 6. As he passed through the intersection of Hilltop Road, the 72-year-old driver of a 2007 Dodge ram 3500 pickup truck, identified as Bernard Gregory Torreyson, failed to yield the right-of-way while turning left at the intersection. As a result, the two vehicles collided.
The motorcyclist suffered severe injuries in the crash. Lifesaving measures were performed on him at the scene. He was transported to the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.
The incident remains under investigation.
