Lafayette, MO (September 18, 2023) – A high-speed pursuit ended tragically on the Old 40 Highway, just west of Route WW, early Monday, September 18, 2023.

At about 12:25 a.m., 18-year-old Tye A. Reynolds of Odessa attempted to elude law enforcement.

Failing to stop at an intersection, his 2013 Volkswagen veered off the road, plummeted down an embankment, and collided with a tree.

Reynolds, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, suffered serious injuries.

A life-flight helicopter transported him to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO.

The investigation is still ongoing.
