Lakewood, OH (December 12, 2024) - Lakewood police are investigating a tragic incident on Wednesday evening at around 6:11 p.m. A 58-year-old man, identified as Vasilios Safos, was fatally struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Madison Avenue outside of a crosswalk near Orchard Grove Avenue. According to Lakewood police, Safos was hit by a westbound vehicle while crossing the busy road.
Despite the efforts of first responders, Safos was transported to Fairview Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Authorities noted that the vehicle's driver remained at the scene following the incident and cooperated with police. The vehicle involved was towed from the scene, and the driver was released after speaking with officers.
