Largo, FL (May 13, 2025) – A devastating collision in Largo has claimed the lives of two children and an elderly woman, following a crash that occurred around 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 10. According to the Largo Police Department (LPD), the crash took place at the intersection of Orangeview Drive and Ridge Road and resulted in multiple severe injuries and fatalities.
LPD officers report that a Dodge Durango traveling southbound collided with a Kia Soul that was attempting to make a left turn. The violent impact killed two young boys—identified as 10-year-old Jabari Soloman and 4-year-old Charlie Soloman—both of whom were inside the Kia.
The Kia’s driver, 78-year-old Gail Price, was critically injured in the crash and succumbed to her injuries on Sunday, May 11. A front-seat passenger, 58-year-old Herbert Rivera, was hospitalized with serious injuries.
The Durango was driven by 20-year-old Adarius Hayes, a football player with the Miami Hurricanes. He was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. Investigators have confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
Ridge Rd was shut down between Ulmerton Rd and 8th Ave for several hours following the crash to allow for a detailed investigation and scene cleanup.
Largo Police continue to investigate the incident and are specifically examining vehicle speed, the use of seatbelts, and whether appropriate car seats were used. As of now, no charges have been filed.
We extend our deepest condolences to the families of Jabari and Charlie Soloman and to the loved ones of Gail Price. We also hope for a full recovery for Herbert Rivera and all others affected by this heartbreaking event.
Fatal Intersection Crashes in Florida
Crashes at residential intersections like Orangeview Dr and Ridge Rd can turn deadly in moments, especially when speed, timing, and visibility all intersect in dangerous ways. In this case, the tragedy was compounded by the involvement of children and older adults, two of the most vulnerable groups in traffic collisions.
Left-turn crashes are particularly hazardous when oncoming traffic is moving at high speeds, as even minor miscalculations can lead to catastrophic outcomes. While alcohol was ruled out as a factor in this crash, other critical elements such as speed, distraction, or failure to yield may have contributed. These circumstances will be central to the ongoing investigation.
Florida law mandates the proper use of seatbelts and child safety seats. In fatal incidents involving minors, determining whether restraints were properly used is a key part of assessing responsibility and safety compliance. Authorities have confirmed that these elements are under review in this case.
The aftermath of such a horrific collision extends far beyond the physical injuries—it leaves lasting emotional trauma for families, first responders, and entire communities. Legal processes, funeral planning, medical bills, and insurance claims only add to the burden faced by survivors.
