Las Vegas, NM (January 5, 2023) – Due to a police chase through the town of Las Vegas, the New Mexico State Police are looking into a fatal crash. The collision took place on Wednesday, January 5th, at around 12:00 p.m.
According to authorities, Gilbert Montoya, 42, collided near Grand Avenue and Chavez Street after allegedly eluding Las Vegas police.
Montoya passed away instantly and was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding paramedics. A 33-year-old passenger was brought to a medical facility in Albuquerque to undergo treatment for their injuries.
No one else involved in the incident was injured.
