Leeville, NV (September 18, 2023) -On Sunday, September 17, 2023, a tragic rollover crash occurred at the Nevada Gold Mines site between Leeville and Gold Strike.

The incident unfolded just past 1:50 a.m., as reported on the Eureka County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.

The accident prompted a swift response from Nevada Gold Mines, NGM Mine Rescue, Eureka County Sheriff’s Office (ECSO), Carlin Police, Carlin Fire, and EMS teams.

Their arrival revealed a Tona Tec Exploration truck had rolled over while descending a hill within the mine site.

Regrettably, the driver succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while a passenger was rushed to Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital for medical attention.

ECSO deputies are leading the crash investigation, with assistance from the Mine Safety and Health Administration and Nevada State Mine Inspectors.

Furthermore, ECSO deputies are collaborating with the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office in conducting the coroner’s investigation.
