Leonardtown, MD (July 19, 2023) – A teen has died as a result of a major motor vehicle accident in the Leonardtown area.
The accident occurred just before 3:00 p.m. on July 16.
According to reports from the police, a head-on collision between a 2013 black Kia Rio and a 2015 silver Dodge Durango occurred on Newtowne Neck Road during the afternoon hours. The impact of the crash caused the sedan to overturn and come to rest in a ditch.
Authorities arrived at the scene and located three victims. The victims were identified as 27-year-old Taylor Lee Jones, 39-year-old Jacob Matthew Jones, and a juvenile. All three victims were transported to area hospitals for emergency care.
The driver of the Kia and their passenger, a 14-year-male, were both severely injured. The driver was flown to a local hospital for emergency care. The passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene.
At this time, the incident is being investigated.
