Lewiston, CA (September 13, 2023) – A severe collision involving multiple vehicles occurred on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, on Highway 299, close to Fawn Lodge Road.

The crash happened around 1 p.m. near Fawnlodge Forest Fire Station 61.

A Jeep and a Mitsubishi collided for unclear reasons.

The Jeep climbed an embankment while the Mitsubishi landed in a 15-foot ditch.

Trinity County Fire Department paramedics found two elderly women with neck and back injuries.

Both were hospitalized.

Tow trucks cleared the damaged vehicles from the site.

Investigators are examining the cause of the Highway 299 collision.

The investigation is still ongoing.
