Lincoln County, GA (October 22, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred early Sunday morning, resulting in the death of a pedestrian. The incident took place around 4:40 a.m. in the 2200 block of Augusta Highway, near Partridge Town Road, as confirmed by Coroner Tim Quarles.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, Gerald Mickens, 42, of Lincolnton, was walking in the southbound lane of the highway while wearing dark clothing when he was struck by a pickup truck traveling in the same direction. The driver reportedly did not see Mickens until it was too late. Following the collision, the driver immediately pulled to the shoulder and called 911 for assistance.
Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. However, they have indicated that no charges are expected against the driver at this time.
