Lincoln County, MO (March 19, 2025) – Two people sustained injuries following a serious two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Route J and Mennemeyer Rd on Tuesday evening.
The collision occurred around 5:00 p.m. when a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by a 27-year-old man from Wentzville, was traveling eastbound on Mennemeyer Rd. At the same time, a 2003 Sterling A9500 truck, driven by a 58-year-old man from St. Charles, was heading south on Route J. According to Missouri State Highway Patrol reports, the Chevrolet driver failed to yield at the intersection, resulting in a collision where the front of the Equinox struck the passenger side of the truck.
Emergency responders from the Lincoln County Ambulance District arrived at the scene and transported a 9-year-old female passenger from Troy, MO, to SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital Lake St. Louis with injuries. The truck driver also suffered injuries and was taken to the same hospital for treatment.
Both vehicles were totaled in the crash and had to be towed from the scene. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office assisted in the investigation, which remains ongoing.
Our thoughts are with those injured, and we hope for their full recovery.
Failure to Yield Accidents in Missouri
Failure to yield is a common cause of serious car accidents, particularly at intersections where traffic from multiple directions must navigate right-of-way rules. When drivers fail to observe stop signs, traffic signals, or yield signs, collisions can occur, often leading to significant vehicle damage and injuries.
In Missouri, right-of-way violations contribute to a large number of crashes every year. Busy intersections like Route J and Mennemeyer Rd require heightened awareness and adherence to traffic laws to ensure safe passage. Unfortunately, even cautious drivers can become victims of accidents caused by others who disregard these rules.
If you or a loved one has been injured in an accident due to another driver’s failure to yield, you may have legal options to pursue compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and other damages. Taking the right steps after an accident can help protect your rights and aid in your recovery.
