Lincoln, NE (October 19, 2024) – A student was injured in a traffic accident on Friday morning near Irving Middle School. At approximately 8:50 a.m., local police responded to the scene of the crash, which occurred at the intersection of 22nd and Lake Streets.
Preliminary reports indicate that a 14-year-old student riding a scooter went through a stop sign and was struck by an eastbound vehicle. Fortunately, the teen was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Lincoln Police Department (LPD). Authorities confirmed that speeding was not a factor in the accident, and the driver of the vehicle will not be cited.
