Long Island, NY (May 23, 2023) – The New York Fire Department responded to the scene of a major structure fire in the Williston Park section of Long Island that claimed one woman’s life.
At around 3:00 a.m. on May 23, the police and firefighters were called to the scene of a fire incident on Lafayette Avenue.
Reports from the police show that a two-story structure located at 252 Lafayette Avenue caught on fire during the early morning hours.
One woman in the home, identified as Kashmira Patel, became trapped inside. Multiple other people were located inside the home suffering from injuries.
A total of seven people were transported to area hospitals for emergency medical care.
Patel ended up passing away as a result of her injuries.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
