Long Island, NY (October 15, 2022) – A 13-year-old from Long Island who was struck by a hit-and-run driver on Wednesday, October 12th will soon be taken off life support.

The boy, who just celebrated his birthday the day before, was critically injured while pushing his sister from the path of the oncoming vehicle.

The 13-year-old siblings, both eighth graders at William Paca Middle School, were walking inside a bicycle lane on Granny Road when they were struck by an unknown driver at about 7:30 p.m.

After hitting the children, the driver sped away without stopping, notifying the police, or rendering aid.

The victim’s sister sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

As of Thursday evening, no arrests had been made.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the victims at this time. Our thoughts are with everyone who has been affected by this tragedy.
