Longview, WA (September 13, 2023) – Early Tuesday, September 12, 2023, a deadly house fire occurred in Longview.
Authorities received reports of a chair on fire inside a house near 48th Avenue and Ocean Beach Highway around 4 a.m.
Upon arrival, responders encountered heavy smoke and flames from the house’s rear.
Inside, one individual was found deceased.
Another person suffered burns and was hospitalized.
Resident Ken Maney witnessed the incident.
Neighbor Nancy Mendoza expressed grief over the tragedy.
Fire Marshal Jon Dunaway suggests the fire likely started on the kitchen stove.
He stressed the importance of kitchen fire safety.
Community members are rallying support for the affected family.
