Mahanoy City, PA (October 21, 2024) – A three-vehicle crash on Sunday evening, October 20, resulted in six individuals being transported to the hospital. The incident occurred around 6:00 p.m. near 412 East Centre Street, specifically at the intersection of 4th and Centre Streets.
According to reports, the accident began when the first vehicle came to a stop at a red light at the intersection. A minivan then rear-ended this vehicle, which triggered a chain reaction, leading to a Kia SUV striking the minivan from behind.
Mahanoy City Police Chief Thomas Rentschler confirmed that five occupants of the minivan and one person from the Kia were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Fortunately, there were no reports of life-threatening conditions among the injured.
Emergency responders from Tamaqua, Schuylkill EMS, Shenandoah, and Ashland were dispatched to the scene to assist. Additionally, fire crews from Mahanoy City's West End and Humane Fire Companies were on-site to help manage traffic control and ensure the safety of all involved.
