Queens, NY – Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle on 111th St near 107th Ave

Mamakating, NY – Tamika Zambrano Struck & Killed by SUV on Mamakating Rd

Mamakating, NY (May 13, 2021) – At approximately 6:22 p.m. on Wednesday, May 12th, a woman was fatally struck by a motor vehicle in the town of Mamakating. The incident took place on Mamakating Road.

According to the New York State Police, 39-year-old Tamika Zambrano, of Bloomingburg, was walking in the same direction of traffic when she was struck from behind by a red SUV that fled the scene. A nearby witness called the police and emergency crews transported Zambrano to Garnet Medical Center. She was pronounced deceased a short time later.

The driver of the SUV, identified as 49-year-old Raymond M. Cammerino, also of Bloomingburg, was located and arrested. He is currently charged with 2nd-degree Vehicular Manslaughter, Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death, and DWI.

Residents in the area are concerned about the 55 mph speed limit in this area because of the neighborhood park that is located on this stretch of road. A friend of the victim feels that the speed limit should be reduced to at least 30 mph in the area to avoid further tragedies such as this one.

Our thoughts are with everyone who has been affected by this tragedy. We understand that there is absolutely nothing more devastating than the unexpected loss of a family member, especially if the accident that took their life could have been avoided in any way possible.

Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in New York

5/13 Mamakating, NY – Tamika Zambrano Struck & Killed by SUV on Mamakating Rd

More than 10,000 people were either injured or killed in New York pedestrian accidents with a motor vehicle in 2018. The lack of protection in place for pedestrians sadly increases their likelihood of suffering serious or even fatal injuries following a collision with a vehicle. When a negligent party, such as a hit-and-run driver, causes injuries to you or a loved one, it is imperative to recognize the immeasurable value of experienced representation.

After losing a loved one in a careless, reckless, or otherwise negligent New York pedestrian accident by no fault of the victim, it may feel like no amount of compensation could make you feel complete again. While it is true that no financial restitution can ever fully make up for your losses, filing a wrongful death claim against the responsible party or parties can go a long way toward helping you find some semblance of peace again.

Local Accident Reports was created as a resource for families who have lost a loved one in a sudden New York pedestrian accident. We provide invaluable resources and information for anyone who is grieving the loss of a family member, particularly if that loss occurred as a result of an auto-pedestrian collision that was beyond the control of the victim.
