Apartment Building Fires in Manhattan
Sadly, it is not unheard of for property owners, managers, and landlords to cut corners in order to increase their profits despite the dangers it could pose to their tenants. If negligence on the part of your landlord contributed to the fire in any way, you might have a legitimate claim against them. An experienced New York personal injury attorney can thoroughly investigate the circumstances preceding the fire and identify any possible violations such as:
- Neglecting to properly inspect and maintain smoke alarms, extinguishers, sprinklers, and other fire detection and prevention equipment
- Neglecting to act in accordance with building and fire codes
- Neglecting to replace or repair damaged and/or faulty gas lines, electrical wiring, appliances, or other possible fire sources in a timely fashion
For your case to be successful, you will have to demonstrate that the fire was the result of someone else’s negligence. A skilled attorney will know how to examine the facts, review real estate and insurance records, and study the cause, damages, and other evidence in order to establish who could be legally liable for your injuries or the death of a family member.
