6.05 Manhattan, NY - Lisa Banes Critically Injured During NYC Hit-and-Run Crash

In just the past few years, several thousand people have endured serious injuries or been killed in pedestrian-related accidents in New York. As summarized by the state government, despite less than 10% of New York accidents involving pedestrians, they produce the highest numbers of severe injuries and fatalities.

The rate of pedestrian-involved accidents is highest in metropolitan areas. For instance, when looking at data for the entire state, New York City was the site of almost three-fourths of the state’s pedestrian accident total and more than half of all pedestrian deaths.

Being injured in an auto-pedestrian accident can be an extremely disruptive, frightening, confusing, and overwhelming time in a person’s life. After being hurt in a pedestrian collision that was not your fault, the last things you need to be concerned with are the financial obligations and other stressors that only make physical recovery more challenging.
