Manhattan, NY (July 7, 2023) – A major motor vehicle accident in the Gramercy section of Manhattan resulted in injuries for multiple victims.
Just before 7:30 p.m. on July 6, the New York Police Department and the New York fire department rushed to the scene of a bus accident that took place at the intersection of 1st Avenue and East 23rd Street.
FDNY personnel confirmed that an MTA bus and a double-decker tour bus collided at the intersection during the evening hours. There were approximately 81 victims treated at the scene for injuries that they suffered. Maddox transported at least 18 victims to local hospitals for emergency care.
Investigations found that the driver of the double-decker tour bus ran a red light at the intersection, causing the two vehicles to collide.
The incident is currently being investigated.
